Its design echoes the silk drawstring pouches traditionally worn with kimonos or yukatas - still seen on the streets of Tokyo today - while also referencing the elegant aumônières often depicted in french medieval illuminated manuscripts, such as the Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry.
