The drawing inspiration are both from Japan and France.  From silk drawstring pouches carried often when wearing traditional Japanese Kimono or Yukata, even today on the streets of Tokyo and the elegant aumônières often pictured in the illuminated manuscripts of the French middle-ages like in the Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, the Colette bag blends history with modern luxury.
