“CARIOCA” AW20 COLLECTION

The irrepressible spirit and joie de vivre of the cariocas, Rio de Janeiro’s vibrant, sun-drenched, party population provides bountiful inspiration for the AW20 Michino Paris collection.

Soaking in the confluence of culture and nature that the city provides, the collection is a feast for the senses, celebrating al fresco living, a bold approach to colour and the city’s abundant natural surroundings. Rio’s status as a cultural melting pot also reflects a deeper side of Michino’s brand story, in its empowering celebration of confidence, curiosity and adventure. From chaotic urban sprawl to sand, sea and sunshine, the new collection is about living in the moment, setting yourself free and allowing positive energy to guide the way.

From sun-dappled jungles to thronging beaches, the collection incorporates seriously saturated hues, including fuchsia
saffiano leather and forest green crocodile, as well as sky blue, deep violet and rich crimson tones. Pattern comes in the form of playfully reworked animal prints in striking
colour combinations, as well as Michino’s
signature geometric dots, stripes and hearts.

A bold new half-moon shape joins the line-up for this season, complemented by fresh takes on the brand’s favourite Squarit and Craft bags with printed phrases. A graphic new logo also appears for the first time, and this will eventually be carried by all Michino Paris pieces.

The shoot also champions local Brazilian artistic talent, including art director Raphael Tepedino, photographer Pedro Loreto, stylist Antonio Frajado, as well as models and streetcast cariocas, shining a spotlight on Rio’s thriving creative scene and bringing it to the stage in Paris.
